Ali Mohamed

Ali Mohamed has over twenty years of experience in finance and investment management. He has won recognition as one of the leading members of a new generation of Islamic investment bankers with strong academic training, international experience, and expertise that bridges conventional and Islamic finance. He currently serves as CEO of Power Bank, an Islamic bank focused on the energy sector, with $10 billion in authorized capital. He also serves as a consultant to hospitality group ACCOR and the Kasada Group, a $1 billion hospitality fund managed by the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA).
Mr. Mohamed previously served as Vice President of Business Development for the Qatar Financial Centre (QFC), where he worked to bridge the gap between Qatar and the African continent across a number of sectors. He has been instrumental in guiding Qatar to negotiate favorable tax treaties and Bilateral Investment Treaties (BITs) with African countries. He also previously worked for Hassad Food and QInvest in Qatar, and at BNP Paribas, ING Bank, and Citigroup in the UK. At Hassad Food, he oversaw the development of new and existing lines of business with sub-Saharan Africa across different asset classes.
Mr. Mohamed holds an MBA in Islamic Finance and is a Certified Sharia’a Auditor and Advisor (CSAA) with the Accounting and Auditing Organization of Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI) in Bahrain. He has completed executive programs at HEC Paris and Harvard Business School.
