Chris Beatty joined KRL in May of 2007, shortly after the firm was established. As the Managing Director of KRL, Chris has traveled extensively throughout the developing world, with noted experience in sub-Saharan Africa. He has vast experience working on the ground in post-conflict and post-disaster environments, playing an advisory role in several peaceful democratic transitions. Chris has supported the company’s private sector clients in designing market entry strategies and programs to manage political risk. He has also advised the company’s foreign clients on matters related to government advocacy, political positioning, and communications.
In Haiti, both before and after the devastating 2010 earthquake, Chris worked with a private sector client to support the coordination of development/relief efforts between the local government, donors, and the private sector. During the 2014-15 outbreak of the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in West Africa, Chris worked to support the coordination and mobilization of response efforts of the host governments, donors, NGOs and the private sector, specifically through the Ebola Private Sector Mobilization Group (EPSMG) which coordinated the response of over 100 companies operating in and around the affected areas.
Chris has served as a strategic advisor on numerous political campaigns, including the 2011 re-election of President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf in Liberia and the 2016 election of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in Ghana. He continues to serve as an advisor to the governments of Liberia and Ghana.
Chris manages the firm’s day-to-day operations and serves as an advisor to clients on U.S. legislative affairs, international trade policy, the investment and political climate in emerging markets and corporate social responsibility. He has worked throughout his career to facilitate coordination between the private sector, NGOs, and governments to foster responsible investment and deliver tangible benefits to the communities in which they operate.
